Fabrication Lab

CBS faculty, post docs, and students may obtain access to our fabrication facility located in the basement of the Northwest building (B401). The lab provides basic tools and materials used in the production of scientific equipment. Currently, three levels of lab access are permitted:

Unrestricted access to all electronic and optical test and fabrication equipment: solder stations, reflow oven, high speed DAQ equipment, optics and cameras.

After a brief in-house safety program (<2 hrs.) competent users may operate most of the standard machining tools (drill press, bandsaw, tablesaw, grinders, chopsaws).

Completion of the physics machine shop course grants access to the metal-working mill and lathe.

All users are required to be familiar with lab safety rules.  Users must always have a physical "buddy" when operating machinery.

After becoming familiar with all the safety rules and having received all necessary training,  users should return the liabilty waiver, signed by the intended user and their P.I.
