Searle Scholars Program

Sponsor's deadline:
24 Sep 2010 America/New_York
Internal deadline:
13 Jan 2010
Requirements:
Applications to the program must be submitted through invited institutions only, and not by individual candidates. The FAS and HMS are considered separate, invited institutions. If you are an interested faculty member, please consult with the academic leadership about your candidacy.
Awards:
Grants are currently set at $300,000 for a three-year period, with $100,000 payable in the first year and equal sums payable in the second and third years, subject to the receipt of acceptable progress reports.

Applications to the program must be submitted through invited institutions only, and not by individual candidates. Candidates should have begun their first appointment as an independent investigator at the assistant professor level on or after July 1, 2010. The appointment must be a tenure-track position (or its nearest equivalent) in the FAS or HMS.

On-line application forms and instructions for the year 2011 awards probably will be available in early-June. Potential applicants should obtain the on-line application passwords from the appropriate administrative office at their institution. Applications are to be submitted by the institution and not by individual candidates.

The Searle Scholars Program makes grants to selected academic institutions to support the independent research of outstanding young scientists who have recently joined the tenure-track faculty. Normally, the program makes 15 new grants each year.
